About
I started my career organizing knowledge systems and services in libraries – a field that’s been grappling with how people find, understand, and use information for centuries. That foundation shaped everything I do now as a researcher and designer organizing shared understanding for teams across domains and disciplines.
What I bring to the table
I’ve worked across startups, nonprofits, and government agencies, and products as diverse as policy research tools, enterprise financial systems, community platforms, and accessible digital experiences. I’m experienced in:
- Mixed-methods research (interviews, usability testing, card sorts, surveys, analytics)
- Information architecture and service design
- Enterprise software and regulated environments
- Design systems and accessibility (WCAG, 508 compliance)
- Building research capabilities and democratizing insights across teams
- Mentoring and cross-functional collaboration
I’m also comfortable with code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, R) and design tools (Figma, Sketch), which helps me work effectively with engineering teams and understand technical constraints.
Underlying patterns
There’s a throughline across startups, nonprofits, and government agencies, whether I’m researching policy tools or designing community features. That throughline is consistently absorbing fragmented information, identifying what’s missing or unclear, connecting people and ideas across silos, and helping teams think more clearly before decisions get locked in.
I’m most energized when:
- Teams are still figuring things out (not executing from a finished plan)
- Learning actually informs decisions (not just justifying them)
- There’s enough flexibility to shape the path forward together
I also work best in environments with real trust, clear expectations, and thoughtful collaborators. My goal is always to leave teams stronger than I found them, no matter what they need. It can look like building research capability they can run themselves, coaching others through complex analysis, or operationalizing systems that outlast my time there.
When I’m not working
If I’m outside, I’m probably birdwatching (I have a particular fondness for backyard birds).
If I’m inside, I’m reading or watching something about ancient or pre-history, mentally cataloging what persists across millennia of human problem-solving.
There’s a lot to learn from our neighbors and our shared history.
